Club Achieves Tournament Wins Milestone

By Webmaster 07/30/2016, 8:30am EDT

Club has over 100 Tournament Championships in 11 Seasons

The Dayton Sting Baseball Club “Powered by Wilson/DeMarini” achieved a milestone with its 100th tournament victory on May 8, 2016, at the Nations May Qualifier Presented by Sports Experience.  The 8U Black Team, coached by John Tishaus provided the milestone victory for the organization.

Club President, Tim Dunaway expressed, “The 100 win mark wouldn’t have been possible without the contributions of the players and families from the past 11 seasons.  The organization is grateful for their commitment to the program.”

Formed in 2006, the Dayton Sting Baseball Club has earned 106 tournament victories and 103 tournament runner-up finishes along with 16 Midwest Ohio League titles.

Boston Red Sox 3B Travis Shaw gives the Dayton Sting a shout out from the locker room today prior to their home opener at Fenway Park.

Several members of the Dayton Sting 12U Black have attended Travis' hitting camp the past two years in his hometown of Washington Court House, Ohio.  The "Sting Boys" as they are affectionately known at his camp are famous for the brushed "S" caps and strong fundamentals.

However, one member of the 12U Black believes that Travis may be a bit "over rated" in starting in front of Pablo Sandoval this season.  No hard feelings according to Travis.  He will see YOU at camp next winter!  Go Sting!

Speed and Agility

Dayton Sting will be offering speed and agility training for players. Dates are Sundays thru November and Fridays and Sundays thru December. Please see team calendar for more information.

For more than 50 years, Henny Penny has been leading the way in providing foodservice equipment solutions that truly make a difference. It’s all about helping our customers improve food quality, increase profitability and — above all else — keep their customers satisfied and coming back for more.

As proof, our fryers, holding cabinets, rotisseries, combi ovens and merchandisers are hard at work in some of the industry’s most demanding, high-volume kitchens —from QSRs and casual dining to healthcare facilities, supermarkets and more.

So how have we done it all these years? By putting people first — both our customers and our employees.

As our company has grown to support our customers around the globe, we’ve established an extensive network of more than 135 exclusive distributors in 100 countries. But we haven’t outgrown our local Midwestern roots: we’ve always done business the personal way, and always will. It’s what gives us real insights into what our customers truly want and need.

In January 2015, Henny Penny became employee-owned and remains privately-held today.  As a result, we can respond quickly to the changing needs of our customers while staying focused on what really matters. For example, we’re proud that 60% of all Henny Penny employees have been with our company for at least a decade — and there’s a reason they stick around. Through training and development programs, we’re committed to growing our employees’ talents and putting that growth to work for you. After all, our company’s quality and stability are (literally) in their hands.

It’s about doing the right thing — and keeping our customers’ best interest out front is something we’re proud to do every day.  Now see what a real working partnership with Henny Penny is all about.

IUE-CWA Local 755

The Local 755 has been in existence since November 1949, and we are proud to be the founding Local of the IUE.  The first location was on Madison Street in downtown Dayton, Ohio, which was in close proximity to the old General Motors, Delco Products complex where the members worked.   In the early 1980’s, all manufacturing moved to Forrer Blvd. in Kettering, and in 1988 the Local Union Hall moved to its new location on Woodman Drive, where it still remains today.

In 2000, the IUE merged with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and became the IUE-CWA, Industrial Division becoming a part of an International that would represent over 750,000 members.

Local 755 is also proud to have one of its own members as the top officer of the IUE-CWA, Jim Clark who began his union career as an Alternate Steward, progressing then to Shop Chairman in the plant before moving on as Automotive Conference Board Chairman.  He now serves the membership as IUE-CWA Division President and CWA Vice President, which means our founding Local is now represented in the top office of the IUE -  a first in our Local’s history.

Through the years, the Local membership has gone through many changes within its workforce, originally working for General Motors, then Delphi and now Tenneco.   The members at Local 755 totaled over 10,000 active members at its peak and in early 2008 the active members had declined to 350.

Due to the economy and the downsizing of manufacturing plants in the Dayton area, it was felt that it would be in the best interest of the Local to amalgamate with other IUE-CWA Locals in the Dayton area.

Therefore, former IUE-CWA Locals 768, 797, 801 and 919 amalgamated with the Local 755 in 2008.  Local 755 now proudly represents over 2200 members working at 10 locations, and they are Tenneco, DMAX, Cobasys, Dayton Phoenix, General Engine Products, Overlook Mutual Homes, Dimco Gray, Anchor Fabricators, Staco and Fayette County School Corporation.

Now, in its 60th year since its founding, Local 755 remains strong and proud.   We are active in the community, helping with community projects such as the Food Pantry, United Way and various other organizations.  Since its amalgamation, Local 755 now proudly serves over 15,000 retirees and surviving spouses.  We are very proud of our Retirees, who helped pave the road for this generation of workers, and who remain active in their retiree club that meets regularly at the Local 755 Union Hall.

We are very proud of Local 755 and its rich history. On behalf of the Local 755 Officers and Executive Board we want to thank each member of Local 755, past and present, for their part in making our Local the success it is today.
